Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Catalyst (the "Service"). By creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
// 01 · What Catalyst Is
Catalyst monitors public ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) announcements, filters them to a watchlist you define, and produces AI-generated plain-English summaries via Anthropic Claude. The data sources are public; the value Catalyst adds is filtering, summarisation, and presentation.
// 02 · Your Account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You must provide a valid email address and keep your contact information current.
- You are responsible for the security of your password and for all activity on your account.
- One account per person. Sharing credentials, or operating multiple accounts to evade plan limits, is prohibited.
- Notify us immediately at security@catalystasx.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
// 03 · Subscription & Payment
- The Free tier is provided at no cost with a 5-stock watchlist limit and previewed AI summaries.
- The Pro tier is billed at A$14.99 AUD per month, in advance, via Stripe.
- Subscriptions auto-renew on the same calendar day each month until cancelled.
- You can cancel at any time from Settings → Manage Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain Pro access until then.
- Refunds are at our discretion. We will issue a refund for billing errors reported within 7 days. We do not issue refunds for partially-used billing periods following a cancellation initiated by you.
- If a payment fails, the Pro subscription enters a grace period (per Stripe's defaults). If it cannot be collected, the account reverts to Free.
// 04 · Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Resell, sub-licence, or wholesale-redistribute the Service or the data it surfaces.
- Scrape, crawl, or automate access to the Service beyond ordinary browser use.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, model prompts, or proprietary algorithms.
- Use the Service to facilitate market manipulation, insider trading, or any other illegal activity.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to penetrate the security of the Service or other users' accounts.
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it for other users.
// 05 · Intellectual Property
Catalyst owns the platform, the user interface, the codebase, the AI summary prompts, the brand, and all derivative works (such as the summaries themselves). You retain ownership of your account information and watchlist.
ASX announcements are public information owned by the listed entities that publish them — Catalyst makes no claim over the underlying announcements.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal investment research while your account is active.
// 06 · AI Summaries — Disclaimer
Catalyst uses large-language-model summarisation. AI summaries may:
- Misinterpret nuance, sarcasm, or context.
- Omit material details from long announcements.
- Produce factually incorrect statements ("hallucinations").
- Lag the original announcement by up to several minutes during peak loads.
Always verify by reading the original announcement before acting. The original is linked from every card wherever the ASX provides a source document.
// 07 · Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, timely, or accurate.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
// 08 · Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Catalyst's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) A$100, or (b) the amount you have paid to Catalyst in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, exemplary, or punitive damages, including without limitation trading losses, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
// 09 · Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Catalyst harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
// 10 · Termination
You can terminate your account at any time by signing out and emailing hello@catalystasx.com requesting deletion.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice or refund, for material breach of these Terms (including the Acceptable Use clauses), suspected fraud, or extended non-payment.
// 11 · Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service at any time, including adding, removing, or changing features. Material changes to these Terms will be communicated by email and through an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.
// 12 · Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and Catalyst submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland for any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms.
